The English Riviera is the name given to the area that sits around Tor Bay in South Devon and consists of the priciple towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. The name was really coined by the railways in Victorian times as a marketing term as many saw a similarity in landscape, climate and architecture to the French Riviera.
