Paignton

Paignton sits at the very heart of the English Riviera sandwiched between Torquay and Brixham. It has the benefit of a great variety of sandy beaches plus some great attractions right on its doorstep. It is just a ten minute to fifteen minute drive from The Muntham Apartments and Town House.

Paignton is blessed with a great range of sandy beaches. The closest of these to Torquay is Preston Sands from which at Low Tide it is possible to walk across to the main Paignton Beach.

Paignton Pleasure Pier, The Vue Cinema Multiplex and the large children's play park are all located at Paignton Beach as is Paignton Green which is often the venue for events such as fun fairs, car rallies and the hub for the annual English Riviera Airshow.

Goodrington Sands meanwhile is a short distance from these and here can be found  the beautiful Young's Park with its  boating lake as well as the Splashdown Waterpark. 

Paignton Zoo

Paignton's Visitor Attractions

Paignton can also boast some first rate visitor attractions. One of the best known of these is Paignton Zoo which is just a five minute drive from the town centre. Styling itself an environmental Park the emphasis of this attraction is conservation and breeding programmes for endangered species.

The Dartmouth Steam Railway has its main terminus alongside the mainline railway station. From here you can travel through some beautiful scenery alongside sea and rivers and through beautiful countryside finishing your journey at Kingswear from where you can cross The River Dart and vist Dartmouth.

As has already been mentioned, Waves Waterpark is located at Goodrington Sands and opens seasonally with a collection of water shutes and slides.

Palace Theatre Paignton

Evenings Out In Paignton.

Paignton also has some worthwhile evening entertainment.

In Palace Avenue is The Palace Theatre. This independent theatre hosts a variety of shows all year round ranging from travelling productions to one person shows as well as community productions. 

Paignton also has a collection of first rate restaurants including TJ's on Paignton Harbour

On Paignton seafront is the Vue multiplex which offers great value for money screenings of all the latest blockbusters.
