Christmas Breaks in Torquay

In the weeks before Christmas, the English Riviera has plenty to offer visitors wanting to get in the mood for the Christmas period ahead or elese needing a bit of a boost during the shortest days of the year. Key attractions such as our local National Trust Properties have new events. At Coleton Fshacre, the Christmas decorations are inspired by A Winter's Tide. Meanwhile, at Greenway, Agatha Christie's holiday home, the decorations for 2022 are inspired by one of her best loved creations - Miss Marple. And then there is the spectacular Christmas Train of Lights on The Dartmouth Steam Railway

There's a whole host of festive entertainment. This starts with The Royal Marines Christmas Spectacular on 4th December at The Princess Theatre in Torquay and is followed by the traditional panto Aladdin from 9th December until 31st December. Other venues such as The Babbacombe Theatre and The Palace Theatre at Paignton also have their own Christmas shows.

Sport is also cnetral to Christmas. For horse racing enthusiasts there are a couple of fixtures in the run up to Christmas -  Exeter Racecourse has a Festive Race Day on 2nd December and then a Celebrate Christmas Raceday on 15th December.

Fansof rugby can enjoy, the Exeter Chiefs,  Gallagher Cup home game against Bath at Sandy Park Exeter on 24th December. Click here for ticket information for that fixture. Meanwhile, for soccer fans, on Boxing Day there is a local football match in which  Torquay United are playing Yeovil Town.

Although not quite sport, there are also the fancy dress yuletide swim events. These include the Paignton Lions Club Walk into the sea at midday on Boxing Day. In Torquay No 200 Squadron of The Air Training Corp are organising another Boxing Day dip on Boxing Day morning at 10.30am in aid of Bowel cancer West.
