Golf breaks in Torquay

January and February

Even in the depths of winter, The English Riviera micro climate can produce some stunning days and with miles of coastal footpath you can start 2024 with some exhilerating free exercise.

And of course Dartmoor is just a thirty minute drive away. There are a multitude of different walks available  - one of our favourites is the gentle walk up to the Avon Dam.

We have late availability deals so you can take advantage of good weather as and when it comes.

These early months are the the ideal time to try a new activity - Torquay Golf Club has its Torquay Golf Academy. Itis a short drive away and offers one to one tuition from £35.00 plus a free assessment. Group tuition sessions are also available. For more information about golfing breaksin Torquay, click here.

Torre Abbey

March and April

By this point in the year, days are getting longer and so the opportunities to be outside get greater.

National Trust Properties like Greenway and Coleton Fishacre are fully open and so now is the great time to make the most of your membership. These properties have spectacular grounds and offer the opportunity for some gentle but useful ways to increase your daily step count.

Torquay's own Torre Abbey with its stunning walled gardens is another great exercise opportunity especially if combined with a walk along Torquay's seafront and even a round at the nearby pitch and put..

Easter is early - the last weekend of March in 2024 and offers a four night weekend opportunity to get out and about.

English Riviera Walking Festival

May

Long days and wonderful weather are usually a feature of May and the crowds are yet to arrive in the South West which makes a visit at this point in the year truly special.

Added to which May is the month in which the English Riviera Walking Festival takes place - 4th to 19th May. There is a stunning range of walks suited to all abilities and interests. You can learn all about famous Torquay residents of the past including well known writers, or you can explore the gardens of Torre Abbey and their poison collection in the company of the head gardener. And for the truly intrepid there are some walking challenges that cover miles of the spectacular coastal path.

And if you took to golf earlier in the year or have been a player for some time, you can enjoy the variety of golf courses on offer across the English Riviera. Click here for our golfing breaks page.

Kayaking in Torquay
Kayaking near Ansty's Cove

June, July and August

These peak summer months on The English Riviera present opportunities to take to the water. The English Riviera has a number of watersports providers like Reach Outdoors who can offer everything from adrenaline filled coasteering experiences, wild swimming as well as paddle boarding and kayaking.

For the youngsters, there is the fun and excitement of Quay West Water Park on Goodrington seafront. This has the added benefit of being only a stone's throw from the superb Cantina Cafe which serves superb food.

Dancing is great cardiovascular exercise and on 13th and 14th July there is a great opportunity to dance in the sun to amazing music with the Electric Bay Festival.

Eat well

And of course at whichever time of the year you visit you can eat healthily by choosing one of our stunning restaurants who make the most of the seafood found in our waters.

Number 7 Fish Bistro is a long standing favourite that fully embraces seafood  whilst others such as Harbour 16, The Elephant and The Waddling Duck all have seafood options sourced locally.

And for the real fans of healthy, delicious sea food there is the Seafood Feast in September and October (27th September to 14th October).
